South West Peninsula League Round-Up...

....Saturday, Launceston took advantage by winning 1-0 away at Dartmouth to climb to within a point of leaders Bodmin.

The Clarets, along with Penzance who lost 0-1 at Bovey Tracey, reached the halfway stage in their season, the first clubs to do so.

Liskeard Athletic had a 2-1 win over Witheridge which was welcome following a couple of defeats on the bounce and enabled the Lux Park outfit to climb back into third spot.

St Austell climbed into the top half with a 2-0 win at home to Camelford, whilst both the bottom sides lost again.

The Royal Marines stay in nineteenth after a 0-3 home defeat by Elburton Villa, whilst St Blazey remain bottom after losing 2-1 away at Tavistock.

Penzance made the long trip to the Western Counties Roofing Ground to face managerless Bovey Tracey in this basement battle.

An evenly matched first half saw the teams go in level at half-time, with no goals to show for their efforts, although Bovey may lay claim to having the better of the chances, with new signing Mike Scott, being the culprit of missing a number of chances including as early as the first minute.

On 69 minutes Penzance`s Jamie Thirkle drew out a terrific tip over the bar from Bovey keeper Buckler.

On 84 minutes with the game heading for a draw Lee Pascoe wasted a chance for Bovey when his free-kick was fired over the bar, but less than a minute later, the lively Liam Jones gave Bovey all three points with a terrific strike that flew pass the stranded Penzance keeper.

At the 3rd attempt the second round of Devon Premier Cup matches was finally completed with East side Crediton United running out 6-1 winners away at Plymouth side Wessex Rangers in the twice postponed tie.

Crediton will now travel to fellow East side Exmouth Town in a fortnight.
