Star Go Third After Derby Success

....night, and in one of them, Peterborough Northern Star moved into the top three with a derby victory at Lincoln Road against Blackstones.

Star opened the scoring after 25 minutes. Matt Cook and Nick Davey combined to play Liam Hook in on goal and his angled shot beat home keeper Lee Crockett with Andy Furnell making sure from close range.

Star`s scored came after 31 minutes when Crockett's weak clearance found Billy Smith, who carried the ball a couple of strides before unleashing a fierce low drive into the corner.

Substitute Dan Clements entered the fray with good effect, setting-up a third Star goal after 63 minutes, Davey finishing clinically with a shot just inside the far post.

Stones replied with a well-worked goal after 69 minutes, Avis taking Ben Porter's return pass and slotting home.

Huntingdon Town repeated their recent cup win over Irchester United to claim their first points in the top flight.

Stuart Eason's brace after 19 and 26 minutes put Town on the way to victory.

A 47th minute Barry McKenna reply put Irchester back in the game.

Two late goals sealed Huntingdon's success.

Ben Sawyer scored the third home goal after 86 minutes with Dan Drane completing the scoring in the last minute.
