Local boy Street is a renowned and well-known figure in the non-League scene, having previously managed at the likes of Warrington Town, Witton Albion and most recently Winsford United, who he guided to victory in the NWCL Challenge Cup in 2011.
His playing days saw him play locally at Springfield Park for Wigan Athletic in the mid-1980s under Roy Tunks, and he then had spells at Chorley, Horwich RMI and Bamber Bridge.
Street will be assisted at Brocstedes Park by former St Helens Town manager Jimmy McBride, and the duo hope to put together an attacking and fast-paced team, that will grab the interest of the interest of football followers in the Wigan and Ashton areas.
Street has wasted no time in getting his pre-season plans together and has a number of high-profile friendlies lined up against the likes of Bangor City, Radcliffe Borough and a team from the University College of Philadelphia from the USA.
