....sign midfielder Matt Johnson.
Johnson began his career with Aveley under Stringer, helping them to win promotion from the Ryman League Division One North for the first time in their history during the 2008/09 season.
The following season, they made the play-offs, narrowly losing to Boreham Wood.
The tall, strong midfielder was then snapped up by then Conference Premier outfit Rushden & Diamonds in June 2010.
He went on to play in all but two of the Conference games during the season, but with the uncertainty about the future of the club, he was allowed to leave at the end of the season, and joined Conference South side Dover Athletic a year later.
He failed to gain a regular place in the Dover side, however, and was released by mutual consent in mid-September, joining Braintree in September 2011.
