South West Peninsula League Round-Up…

What could have proven to be a critical day at the top of the South West Peninsula League Premier Division table proved in the end to be rather a false dawn!

Not one of the morning`s top seven in the table recorded a victory and yet only one of those seven sides lost this!

The real `winners` were probably Tavistock who, despite not having a fixture remain top of the table.

Second-placed Saltash United travelled to sixth-placed Plymouth Parkway with the sides drawing 0-0 with each other in front of a crowd approaching 400 at Bolitho Park.

Fifth-placed Bodmin Town hosted seventh-placed Exmouth Town and those two also shared the spoils from a 2-2 draw, whilst St Austell in fourth suffered defeat but also hardly lost ground on those around them.

Cullompton Rangers were responsible for the Lilywhites defeat as the Edenvale Turf hosts won 2-0 and climbed a place to ninth in the table.

At the bottom end of the table, Newquay were without a fixture but St Blazey in nineteenth hosted the side immediately above them, Ivybridge Town, but the Blaise Park hosts failed to close the gap as they lost 3-5 and that enabled Ivybridge to climb a place leaving Witheridge, who lost 1-3 away at Helston Athletic in the last place of safety, the bad news for the bottom two sides though is that Witheridge are some 16 points clear and St Blazey have just nine games left of their season.

Elsewhere, Launceston and Tiverton Town both had away victories with Launceston winning 1-0 at Torpoint Athletic, whilst Tiverton came from behind to win 3-2 at Godolphin Atlantic.

Falmouth Town hosted Callington Town in the day`s other match with both sides collecting a clean sheet and a point each from a goalless draw.
