With two games to go, the striker needs just one more to reach the landmark after scoring his nineteenth of the campaign in last Saturday’s 1-1 draw against Hinckley United. Eighteen of those have come in Conference North and have been crucial in keeping City in the play-off hunt. Heeley said: “He’s been magnificent all season. I think it’s fair to say we’ve struggled for large parts of the campaign trying to find a strike-partner for him but let’s hope he can get above the twenty-goal mark because he deserves to.” While the City boss admits the shortage of goals from Symons’ colleagues could prove decisive in their quest for a place in the top-five, he is not giving up on their challenge. “It’s difficult to find goals from elsewhere and ultimately that could be the difference,” added Heeley, whose side visit Gainsborough Trinity on Saturday for their penultimate game of the campaign. “It’s still mathematically possible so we’ve got a chance.
“It’s something to look forward to and who knows?
“We know what we’ve got to do and we’ll see where it takes us.”
