Leatherhead well and truly maintained their play-off hopes in the Bostik League Premier on Monday night after a 7-0 hammering of Brightlingsea Regent on their own Taydal Stadium patch!
The Tanners moved to within a point of the top five with games in hand on most still, with a stunning second half performance.
They led at the break, thanks to Nana Boakye-Yiadom after 19 minutes and a stunning volley from Tom Richards after 32 minutes.
But they blew Regent into the sea in the second period, Jerry Nnamani netting a hat-trick, Boakye-Yiadom his second and Calum Davies one to make it 7-0.
The lower mid-table derby between Kingstonian and Merstham at Leatherhead`s Fetcham Grove saw K`s stretch their unbeaten run to five games with their first win at `home` since January 8th as a late, late penalty gave them a 2-1 victory.
The floodlights went out in the first 10 minutes and the game was held up whilst the lights were re-booted.
When the game did begin again, K’s took the lead in the 28th minute when Daniel Ajakaiye’s cross was headed home by Greg Cundle.
Tom Kavanagh’s deflected shot in the 56th minute gave the Moatsiders an equaliser.
And, just as the game seemed to be heading for a draw, Muhammadu Faal was tripped in the penalty area and he picked himself up to convert the resulting penalty in the 92nd minute.
