....on challenging strongly in the upcoming Thurlow Nunn League Premier Division campaign.
It has been a distinctly quiet close season at Brewers Green lane this summer with the Tangerines only dipping into the transfer market once to add central defender Ben Soanes to their ranks from league rivals Walsham-le-Willows.
However, after watching his side claim a hard-fought 1-1 pre-season draw with Ryman League Division One North outfit Needham Market on Tuesday night, in which a late Jason Hunt equaliser cancelled out Sam Newson’s spot-kick, Taylor is more than satisfied with the state of his playing squad.
“I don’t think there will be any more additions to the squad at the present time,” said the Diss boss, who also saw Newson miss a penalty for Needham and Tangerines centre half Stefan Gilding red-carded for kicking out at James Hubbard.
“We brought in Ben Soanes who has given us a bit more depth at centre half and we will now be looking to develop the majority of the squad we had last season.
“I was very pleased to get the draw in the end, I think we were the better team in the first half and even after the sending off I think we matched them and deserved at least a draw.
“It is very promising signs for us at the moment and we are hoping to carry on from the momentum of the end of last season, where we won eight out of the last 11 games.”
That form saw the Tangerines transformed from relegation strugglers into one of the form teams in the division and despite only adding one new face to the majority of the same squad as last season, Taylor believes he has seen enough already to believe his side won’t face the same worries as the last campaign.
“I have definitely seen enough from the squad to believe we can push on from last season and challenge strongly in the upcoming campaign,” he added. “I don’t think we will have any of the relegation fears that we did last time out and we should be finishing a lot higher up the table.
“To be honest from what I have seen from the squad I think we are good enough to be challenging for a top six finish.
“I don’t think the league is as strong as it was last season and so hopefully we will be able to compete well.”
