Hampton and Richmond are celebrating after reaching the Middlesex Cup final – for a second time this season!
The Beavers beat Hanworth Villa in the semi final earlier in the season but issues were around the corner.
Hampton were charged with fielding a player, Jerome Federico, after he had already played in the competition while on loan at Hendon.
But after much debate they were told to replay the game with CCL club Villa and weren’t kicked out.
Manager Alan Dowson was delighted to get through last night winning 3-1 in Hanworth and despite the controversy he can’t wait to play Wealdstone in the final.
“It always feel good to get into a cup final and we’ve got through to two this season…. Even if it’s the same one!” he joked.
“It was a second chance for us and we took it, we knew we had to go down to Hanworth and do a job and that’s what we managed to do in the end.
“The final should be a great occasion. The club has a good tradition in the competition so we want to make it a great occasion for our supporters.”
As luck would have it, the two sides face each other at the Beveree this Saturday in a Vanarama National League South fixture.
“I think the sides know enough about each other as it is!” said Dowson.
