Boreham Wood’s Meadow Park will be having a major facelift this summer – and £1million spent on its pitch alone in the close season.
And one of the first guests on their incredible new surface will be Premier League giants Arsenal.
Wood are pushing the boat out and chairman Danny Hunter explained why such investment is being made in the club’s facilities.
He said: “These exciting summer facility builds, include a new main pitch irrigation system, a new main pitch drainage system, a new full size 2star UEFA approved training pitch, that sits alongside the car park and comes complete with a new concourse walkway and an interior/exterior fencing system set within the club grounds.
“We’re also having a new 500 lux LED floodlight system installed, a new set of Premier League standard dugouts constructed and the prep work is now well underway.
“As such we are confident and expect to have a completed facility handed to us as of the 15th July.
“Luton Town have agreed to bring their full first team squad to play us on Saturday, 22nd July. They will then be followed by a strong Arsenal XI, who will officially open the new million pound DESSO pitch and our new floodlight system on the evening of Thursday, 27th July.”
He added: “Arsenal have been incredibly supportive and they will arrive at Meadow Park, after returning from their pre-season trip to Australia and China, before they play in the Emirates Cup that begins the weekend of 29th July.”
