Fans` favourite Matty Warburton has returned to Vanarama National League North club Curzon Ashton.
Warburton left the Nash in the summer to take on pastures new with league rivals Salford City, but he mutually agreed to terminate his contract at Moor Lane (see separate news item).
Warburton played for Curzon across three different levels of football, being an integral part to the Nash’s rise through the ranks.
He joined Curzon in the summer of 2013 from Maine Road and was the top goalscorer as the Nash won the Evo-Stik Northern Premier League First Division North, netting a total of 31 times.
Warburton’s good form continued into the following season as we secured promotion from the NPL Premier Division via the play-offs.
He was also an key role in Curzon`s first season in the National League North, scoring 14 times across his forty-one appearances last season, before opting to take up an opportunity elsewhere.
In total, Warburton scored 54 goals in his 118 Curzon appearances.
He goes straight into the squad for this weekend’s clash with league leaders AFC Fylde.
