Neil Aspin won’t be in the dugout tonight for Gateshead’s fixture at AFC Fylde tonight due to ongoing speculation regarding his future.
The 52-year-old is the favourite in line for the managerial vacancy at League Two side Port Vale.
Assistant manager Lee Nogan will take charge of the team tonight in his absence.
Aspin is somewhat a Vale hero after making 409 appearances for the club as a player.
He was appointed Gateshead manager in November 2015.
A statement on the club’s website read: “In light of the ongoing speculation surrounding Gateshead manager Neil Aspin, we can confirm that discussions regarding his future at the club are ongoing.
“As a result, assistant manager Lee Nogan will take charge of the side at AFC Fylde this evening.
“A further statement will be made in due course.”
