The National League comes to a conclusion this weekend with play-off finals, with spots up for grabs in the National League as well as the final place in next season’s Football League.

In the build-up, a few of the Pitchero Non-League team sat down to preview the games and give us some tentative predictions.

Join me, Dom and our resident Non-League experts Tom Feaheny and Rich Scott for a special Pitchero Non-League podcast that analyses each play-off final.

National League Play-off Final – Tranmere Rovers Vs Forest Green Rovers

After running Lincoln City so close in the race for automatic promotion, Tranmere Rovers have to go in as favourites in the National League play-off final. Victory over an in form Aldershot Town in the semi-finals only serves to strenghten that. Plus, tickets sales are going exceptionally well, so expect a strong crow to cheering them on.

As for Forest Green Rovers, they’ve been here before. After losing to Grimsby in the final last year, motivation to go one better this year will be high.

National League North Play-off Final – Halifax Town Vs Chorley

Chorley face an uphill task to secure a place in next year’s National League. Their opponents Halifax Town were the division’s in-form side during the run in, and they’ve beaten Chorley home and away this season.

In Chorley’s corner however is the underdog tag. After only qualifying for the play-offs due to Darlington 1883’s ineligibility, they upset the apple cart by defeating third place Kiiderminster in the semi-finals. It would be a major achievement if they could pull it off again on Saturday.

National League South Play-off Final – Ebbsfleet United Vs Chelmsford City

On paper Ebbsfleet go into this one as favourites. After finishing two points behind top of the table Maidenhead United, they can look to a home record that reads 17 wins (the best in the division) as they look to see off Chelmsford City.

The visitors face an uphill task. Ebbsfleet’s 96 goals scored (the league’s best) and 30 goals conceded (second best) represent daunting figures for the Clarets. They will need to draw on a 2-1 victory over Ebbsfleet back in September for some encouragement.
