Defender Ollie Brown has departed Bostik Premier club Leiston after a single season and signed for Thurlow Nunn League Division One champions Stowmarket Town.

Brown, who joined Leiston from league rivals Needham Market last summer, had a fine season at right-back, producing some excellent performances throughout the season.

With a new baby on the way, he felt he needed to spend more time nearer to home and with his new family, so has decided to remain more local and play his football in a more local league.

Leiston manager Glenn Driver said: “Ollie was offered a new deal to stay with us in January. He wanted time to think it over and we respected that. As the season drew to a close we had further meetings and Ollie was still undecided and he then decided to remain more local to his home as he has a baby on the way.

β€œThe travelling within the Ryman League is very demanding and we of course respect Ollie’s decision. I hope to work with Ollie again in the future, he is a lovely lad and a very good player and I wish him all the very best for the future.”

Meanwhile, Sebastian Dunbar has signed a new two-year contract with Leiston.

Rated as one of the best left-backs in the league, Dunbar re-joined the Blues after playing for Bury Town for two seasons.

Formerly with Ipswich Town and Stevenage, he is still young so has plenty of time ahead of him at this level, maybe higher.
