Slough Town joint manager Neil Baker expects tomorrow’s opponents Kettering Town to be right near the top of the Southern Premier this season.
In what looks like an intriguing opening day clash, the Rebels take on the Poppies hoping to go one better than playoff defeat last year.
Slough’s Baker knows the size of the task ahead of his side tomorrow as they welcome in the new season at Arbour Park.
“It is certainly a game we are really looking forward too, every side goes into the new season with aspirations of getting promoted, and Kettering are no different to us,” he commented.
“They are a big side for this level of football, and if they manage to tweak a few things from last season they will be one of the front runners alongside Hereford.
“Both sides have had good pre seasons, and neither will want to get beaten.”
He hopes a big crowd are there to see the season get off and under way.
“There should be a decent crowd, which will hopefully swelled by Ketterings travelling support,” adds the joint boss.
“In terms of ourselves we have a very difficult start on paper, having to play Kettering, Gosport and Hereford in our first three games.
“We have some tough decisions to make in terms of the starting line up, however we hope that whatever side we put out comes up with a similar home performance as last year, and not the performance we put in at Latimer Park back end of the season, where Kettering comfortably beat us.”
