......United, says things worked out for the best after he was shown the door by ChromaSport & Trophies United Counties League Division One outfit Buckingham Town.

The 35-year-old expressed his desire to get straight back into management after leaving Buckingham and it took only a week for him to be appointed at Winslow.

Bamber will lead Winslow after their place in the league was confirmed.

He said: “I’m thrilled - it was a bit of a whirlwind week after leaving Buckingham.

“I’m very grateful to Winslow for giving me this opportunity. At the end of the day it worked out well for everyone involved.

“This is a very good club. I’ve only been here for a few days but already I can see how everyone works together and works hard.

“I actually contacted Winslow to see if they were still interviewing and within the week I had the job so it turned out for the best on my behalf and hopefully Winslow’s too.

“I love being involved in football clubs. I wasn’t sure whether it would be managing or coaching but it’s great to be back and it’s good timing after leaving Buckingham.”

Chairman Colin O’Dell was delighted to announce Bamber as manager and the two will now work together in hope of taking Winslow forward.

The former Town boss added: “I’ve already had a few meetings with Colin - he’s introduced me to the other coaches and a few players as well as shown me around the club. The club has a lot of potential.”

Bamber has admitted that he wants to bring new players to the club but won’t name names as he aims to keep the current squad together.

He added: “I have a few players on my mind to bring in but I’m not going to name anyone because I need to keep the current players here.

“I’m contacting existing players at the moment because they’re at the club for a reason but I want to add to the squad and build the club as a whole.”

Following the new venture with Preston Gawcott Junior Football Club, Winslow are keen to look within and bring through their own players rather than look elsewhere.

The club now provide football from all age groups, including boys and girls, from ages seven and older.

Bamber very much shares this philosophy, adding: “The structure of the club is strong with there being teams for all ages.

“One of the first things I asked when I went into the interview was about promoting from within the club and making sure we develop through the club.

“If players have enough ability then we need to keep an eye on them and bring them through.”

Bamber also expressed his desire to play attractive football at the club, saying: “I want to try and adapt a similar style as I had at Buckingham. It’s about quick passing and keeping the ball down and the players have to be very fit and technically aware."
