.....paperwork – from league rivals Braintree Town.
The 22-year-old signs for the Mariners on a two-year deal for an undisclosed fee.
Thomas started out at Charlton Athletic, but although he didn't make his senior debut, he did make two bench appearances for Addicks.
He joined Accrington Stanley on loan in January 2008 where he made his Football League debut against Wycombe Wanderers.
He returned to Charlton after serving his suspension for being sent-off against Macclesfield Town. He also played twice on loan at Barnet at the start of the 2008/09 season, and shortly afterwards he joined Lewes on loan.
He signed a one-year contract with then Conference South outfit Woking in 2009 before joining newly-promoted Braintree in June 2011.
Grimsby director John Fenty said: "It's been a trial to agree because other clubs were in and out of the fold. We are delighted to have fended them off and finally got our man."
