Thompson Shows He Has Faith in Youth
Joe Turley

....club Mangotsfield United, has added a further four players to the playing squad ahead of the league opener in ten days.

Thompson is clearly showing age is no barrier by adding four 8-year-old midfielders to the squad at Cossham Street.

Former Cheltenham Town midfielder Joe Turley, who featured in the last three pre-season friendlies, has agreed to put pen-to-paper.

Turley joins Mangotsfield after being one of eight second year scholars released by the npower League Two club in the summer.

Re-signing for the club from last season are former youth team players Luke Palmer and Jake Slocombe along with Lewis Parker, who came to the club midway through last season.

On the signing of Turley, Thompson commented: "We've taken Joe on after his release from Cheltenham Town and I think he's fitted in really well. He wants to give it a go with Mangotsfield and is really keen.

“He's another promising signing for the future and he fits in with the way we're looking to move forward and develop as a club.

"Luke, Lewis and Jake will be part of the first-team squad and I'll be expecting them to be pushing for a starting place and not being just squad members."
