Three More Pen Pilgrims Deals

Smith (22) was offered new terms following his short spell with the Pilgrims at the end of 2011/12 — and has agreed to remain at The Jakemans Stadium.

The left-sided attacker arrived from Lincoln United ahead of transfer deadline day in March and had only fleeting opportunities to impress — but started successive matches against champions Hyde FC and runners-up Guiseley in the Pilgrims’ final two fixtures and caught the eye of manager Jason Lee.

Smith will begin pre-season training with the other United players at the end of June.

Smith follows striker Spencer Weir-Daley and defender Gareth Jelleyman in signing new contracts with the Pilgrims this week.

Weir-Daley (26) returned to The Jakemans Stadium in January following a spell with AFC Telford United — and netted six goals before the end of the campaign.

The popular goalscorer has now pledged his future to the Pilgrims by signing a new deal ahead of the 2012/13 season.

In total, former Nottingham Forest trainee Weir-Daley has scored 41 goals in 78 starts and 18 substitute appearances for the Pilgrims.

Jelleyman (31) was the Pilgrims' captain during 2011/12 and has now signed a new deal ahead of the 2012-2013 campaign in Blue Square Bet North.

The dependable full-back, who played 41 times for United in 2011-2012, has made 90 appearances in total for the Pilgrims.
