Tigers Win Bassetlaw Derby
Ben Tomlinson

...Cannons Park tenants, Worksop Town and landlords Retford United.

The`hosts` are still aiming to make the play-offs, while Retford are rock bottom and virtual certainties to go straight back down.

The Tigers needed to win if their slim promotion hopes were to remain alive but the first half especially was a scrappy affair for the 286 crowd.

Five minutes into the second half, the referee brought the game to a halt as he had suffered an injury and couldn`t continue. An appeal for a qualified referee was put out over the tannoy and a replacement official was found. He took up a flag and one of the original linesmen took over as referee.

And the new man in the middle had a big decision to make after 77 minutes when he gave a penalty for handball in the Retford box.

Ben Tomlinson made no mistake from twelve yards for the only goal of the game.
