There were two games each in the Toolstation Northern Counties East League Premier Division and Division One on Saturday with victories for Handsworth Parramore and Albion Sports on their travels.
The Amber Parras are up to eight after Jonathan Froggatt’s penalty and an Aaron Moxam strike set them up for a 2-1 win at Penistone Church who pulled one back through a spectacular long-range effort from Daniel Barlow.
And, Albion Sports were 3-0 winners at Rainworth Miners Welfare, Stephen Smith, Alex Cusack and Josh Barden with the goals that see them rise up to thirteenth.
Two of Division One’s top three sides met at Southerns Stadium but it was third-placed Campion who took away the points, a couple of Robbie Graham penalties claiming them a 2-1 win to move within a point of second-placed Yorkshire Amateur whose goal by Harrison Blakey came between the spot kicks.
Meanwhile, Eccleshill United have moved up to fifth after Jonathan Irving’s second-half double earned them a 3-2 win at home to Swallownest after they were two-down to the visitors after just eighteen minutes, Jamie Hopkins and Alex Nightingale seemingly putting the away side in full control before Ben Hardy started the fightback for the Eagles.
