Top Flight Return for Newbury

....Division One East after drawing 2-2 at Rayners Lane on Tuesday night.

Despite falling behind to an early goal form Harry Henley, Chris Blackford and Kalief Madden put Newbury ahead before the break and an 87th minute goal from Laurence Yaku was not enough to deny Newbury the crown and a place in the league’s top flight with one game still to play.

It is almost thirty years to the day since Newbury Town left the Hellenic League’s top flight for Isthmian League football, and Newbury’s return to the competion’s top level has been marked by the league awarding Faraday Road the right to stage the League Cup final on Monday, May 7th.
