Turner `Optimistic` They`ll be no Exodus

.....be no exodus of players from the Shepherd Neame Stadium before the start of the new season. Young keeper Rob French is believed to be a transfer target of league rivals Whitstable Town and the concern among the Lilywhites faithful is that if he goes others could follow.

But Turner insists that he remains hopeful of adding to the Town squad rather than losing players.

"It's all gone quiet as regards the possibility of Rob joining Whitstable," said Turner. "It's now in the hands of the board.

"This time of the season there are a lot of deals being thrown around and the rumour mill works overtime.

"I've worked with Rob for a number of years and he's a player I'd love to keep hold of.

"But if he feels the need to move on there's nothing we can do about it."

Turner says he is aware of fans' concerns, but also insists that the overall future of the club is the most important thing.

He said: "There is always a risk that if a high profile player like Rob leaves that others might follow. What's most important for us is that we are an established Ryman League side and we need to keep working on our status as a step four club.

"At the end of the day Faversham Town FC is bigger than any one player and we will not put the club's future in the balance to try and hold onto players."

Turner isn't in a position yet to name names but says he's close to announcing a number of new arrivals at the club.

"I've had very positive meetings with a number of players and I hope to be able to name names next week."
