Ellison started his career at Liverpool, coming through their youth system and representing England at under-16 level before leaving in July 2010 and joining Burton Albion in search of first-team football.
During his time there, he went on loan to Alfreton Town and Chester City amongst others, where on his return from the latter club in November 2011, his contract was terminated by mutual consent.
The 20-year-old joined Hyde FC but only made three appearances before joining Southport in January 2012.
He scored his first goal for the club in their last home game of the 2011/12 season, against Ebbsfleet United.
Winger Parkinson has re-joined Motors on an initial two-month loan deal from the Shrimps.
He enjoyed a successful loan spell at Rivacre Park last season, making thirteen appearances and scoring two goals.
