This season’s AM Print & Copy Floodlight Cup competition got under way on Monday evening with Burnham Reserves taking on Milton United, winning 4-0 with goals from Jamie Eackris, Dan Sears, Ryan Adams and Leo Dinmore.
Three Premier Division clubs fell to Division One opposition on Tuesday evening. Ascot United had a titanic battle with Hook Norton.
The score was tied 2-2 after 90 minutes with Sam Wadieh and Jonathan Bennett scoring for Ascot, and Jamie Wyatt scoring twice for Hook Norton.
The match remained deadlocked after extra-time with one further goal each being traded to make the score 3-3, Ben knight scoring for Ascot and Liam Fudge equalising for Hook Norton with a late penalty.
The match was then decided on penalties with Hook Norton the eventual winners by 4-2.
Maidenhead United Reserves put out an experienced side to take on Binfield, winning 5-3 with Alex Wall scoring a hat-trick, Lee Barney and an own goal by Callum Whitty, with James Suarez and Sebastion Bowerman scoring for Binfield.
Brimscombe & Thrupp beat Premier Division Kidlington 2-1 with two goals from Lee Pritchard. Ryan Curtin scored Kidlington’s goal from the penalty spot.
Malmesbury Victoria secured their first win of the season in any competition with a 2-1 defeat of Carterton.
Jordan Matthews scored both Malmesbury goals with Barry Morton replying for Carterton.
In the battle of the Reserve sides North Leigh went down 1-2 to Thatcham Town, with Alfie Saunders scoring for North Leigh and Michael Alleyne scoring twice for Thatcham.
Shrivenham took on Wootton Bassett Town, who are currently enjoying a fine FA Cup run. On the night, however, Shrivenham ran out comprehensive 4-1 winners with Bradley Gill scoring a hat-trick and Josh Fowler adding a further goal - Jack Ellis scoring for Wootton Bassett.
