Uncertainty Over Stone Position

....Burnham after rumours have been circulating that he has left The Gore over a dispute linked to the playing budget.

Stone has been building up his squad ahead of the club's first pre-season friendly on July 24th at Hayes & Yeading United, and neither he nor club chairman Bob Breen have commented on the situation. However, word of mouth around the circuit has indicated that Stone has quit.

Anonymous phone calls to the Maidenhead Advertiser offices supported this view.

However a club insider said that while there had been a disagreement and that certain people had 'stood their ground', the situation was close to being resolved as both Stone and the club's board met yesterday.

The Burnham official said: "As far as I know there were things which were not in place which Martin thought were. However, I believe these issues will be resolved when the two sides meet."

It is widely believed that Burnham have been in a testing financial position for many years and as a consequence the playing budget is a constant source of friction at The Gore.
