.....has joined the managerial team for the forthcoming season.

Ward, who was recently surprisingly sacked as manager of Kidsgrove Athletic after six seasons at the Seddon Stadium, will provide more experience to complement the existing managerial team of Lee Casswell, Matt Beeby and Kenny Scragg.

Ward is no stranger to Harrison Park having had a spell as assistant to Phil Wilson in the mid-1990s before taking over the hot-seat himself in November 1996 and guiding the Blues to the NPL Premier Division title and promotion to the Conference.

After a season of struggle in non-League football’s top tier, he was eventually sacked by the club in March 1998.

He has also managed at Nantwich Town and Lancaster City, and whilst at `Grove, Ward has enjoyed an excellent spell, leading the club to four Staffordshire Senior Cup wins and a place in the promotion play-offs in 2009/10, when Kidsgrove finished fourth in the table - their highest-ever position in the non-League Pyramid.

With the upheaval at Hollinwood Road, a number of `Grove’s players are expected to follow Ward to Harrison Park and rumours are already circulating of those players identities.

However, Blues boss Lee Casswell is keeping his cards close to his chest until such time that players can be officially registered with the NPL which is from 1st July onwards.
