Matthews Returns To Bemerton Heath

Robbie Matthews has left Evo-Stik League Southern Division One South & West club to become player/assistant-manager of Sydenhams Football League (Wessex) Premier Division outfit Bemerton Heath Harlequins to link up with new boss Rae Hughes.

Matthews, 35, signed for Winchester from Salisbury FC for whom he appeared thirty-two times in the club’s Wessex Premier-winning season of 2015/16 and scored 13 goals.

Born-and-bred in Amesbury, the 6`2” target man played for the old Salisbury City, Eastleigh and Bemerton Heath in his early years.

Then, after a successful return to Salisbury, he moved on to Crawley, Kidderminster, Newport County, Forest Green Rovers, Gosport Borough, Hayes & Yeading United and Dorchester Town.
