....defence via the recruitment of defender Anwar Uddin.
Uddin began his football career at West Ham United, working his way up through their youth and reserve teams where he was captain.
He was in the Hammer's victorious 1999 FA Youth Cup-winning squad, the final a victory over Coventry City.
In February 2002 he moved to Sheffield Wednesday but moved swiftly on to Bristol Rovers.
After several appearances and an injury he was loaned out to Hereford United and Telford United, before his eventual release.
Uddin next signed for Dagenham & Redbridge during the summer of 2004 after leaving Rovers, and he went on to captain the Daggers.
After a loan spell at Grays Athletic, Uddin left Dagenham to sign for League Two club Barnet and he was again appointed captain ahead of the 2010/11 season.
After a spell as assistant/caretaker-manager at Underhill he joined Boro`s league rivals Sutton United last season.
As the ink dried on the paperwork, Widdrington commented: "I am delighted to welcome Anwar to the club. All through our discussions he has really bought in to what we are trying to do at Priory Lane. He is up for the new season without a doubt.
“His experience is all part of the mix, the chemistry that I am working towards building."
