Australian goalkeeper Ben McNamara has become Blue Square Bet Premier club Nuneaton Town`s ninth new signing of the summer.

McNamara arrived in the UK last month aiming to sign a deal with a British club, having played for Newcastle Jets and Bonnyrigg in his home country.

After trials with AFC Wimbledon and Doncaster Rovers, McNamara impressed Boro boss Kevin Wilkin with good performances in Boro's recent friendly matches against Brackley and Coventry City.

The 6'3" shot-stopper will compete with Neil Collett for a starting berth.

Wilkin said: "Ben will provide excellent competition in a specialist position, he's hungry to progress his career in English football and hopefully that will happen with us"

Kevin Harris-James, Director, added: "To add a player of the calibre of Ben to the squad is an endorsement of the fantastic strides we have made on and off the pitch over the summer and is testimony to the herculean effort of Kev, Micky and the Board to improve the squad and ensure we have competition in all places for the greater good of the team. Ben is a welcome addition and a real statement of intent for our part with the start of the season imminent."
