Williams Knows Where His Priorities Are
Carl Williams

.....faces to Top Field in pre-season with around four to five players likely to be added to the squad.

Williams, speaking to the Hitchin Town Supporters’ Trust at the end of its seventh season, said: “I know my priorities.

“Last season we were lacking on the left hand side, so I will be looking for a left-back, a left-sided midfielder, a big forward and possibly a central midfielder. But they have to be the right people.”

Overall, Williams was happy with the 2011/12 season. “I am satisfied where we finished, but we could have done better,” he said. “Sometimes we let ourselves down and we were a bit inexperienced at times. We’re on a learning curve, however, and I am looking to move forward – our players will get better.”

Williams said opposition managers had praised his side during the course of the campaign: “We try to play football and it has been appreciated by quite a few people.”

Looking ahead, Williams is hoping for an improvement in the league and would like to bring a good FA Cup run to Top Field: “One of our most disappointing results in 2011/12 was the FA Cup defeat at Waltham Forest – a game we should have won. I believe a long FA Cup run is long overdue at this club."
