Wilson Boost for Ilkeston
Laurie Wilson

.....Northern Premier League Premier Division.

That's the news which is guaranteed to delight Robins` supporters after the former Alfreton Town and Harrogate Town player agreed to link up with Kevin Wilson for a fourth time.

The two were together at Hucknall Town and Ilkeston Town and now, after playing a key part in the final run-in to promotion last season, he has committed himself to continuing where he left off in the First Division South play-off final against Leek Town.

"People don't really need telling that this is a very significant signing for us," said Wilson. "There was never any doubt that Laurie wanted to join us - it was just a matter of agreeing terms and I'm pleased to say that he didn't play hard to get in that respect.

"We agreed terms on the phone and once we got to that point, I wanted to see his signature on the form as quickly as possible.

"I think it's true to say that Laurie and I are good for each other. We've already been through a lot together and I have to say that I'm a lot more confident about our chances of making an impact next season with him on board.

"If we are going to make the step up to Premier level and continue to win matches, we need the likes of Laurie Wilson to lead the way."

With the nucleus of last season's successful squad already tied up for next season, it's now a matter of putting the final pieces of the jig-saw in place for the manager.

He's playing his cards close to his chest in terms of who his main transfer target might be but he said: "I've already sounded out a number of players about joining us and although there's no shortage of people who want to come to the New Manor Ground, it's all about getting them to fit into our budget."
