.....Wilson as their new chairman this week, with previous chair and team manager Richard Evans happy to concentrate on football matters. Wilson, 42, joined the Roms committee in February and will head the club’s current structure which remains unchanged. The move will come as music to Evans’ ears who filled the role as the club’s search for a new chairman lasted over two years. Wilson, a Contracts Director at construction and road surfacing group Rio, said: “I’m very excited by the challenges that lie ahead – we have a good set up for the football which gives us a good, solid base, and my job is to try and bring the different parts of the club together. “My brief is to find a proper home pitch for our youth set up so we have somewhere for the club to call home, to get out into the business community and attract sponsorship, and build awareness of the club in our community. “The existing committee will remain as it is and I will be here to compliment that and bring a bit of focus.” Richard Evans, who will remain on the committee added: “We’ve made no secret of the fact we needed fresh blood to help run the club – clubs evolve both on and off the pitch and Andy will be here to help the good people we already have in place. “He will raise the profile of the club and get funds in – he has already proved he is an asset to the club with his work in the youth set up and he is not a talker, he just does things, which is great. “Andy has a business background and I’m pleased to have someone to work with financially and commercially. “I will still be involved on the financial side but this will give me the opportunity to take a back seat and concentrate on running the team.”
