....Premier Division with a 2-1 win against local side Crown FC in their first pre-season friendly.

Goals from new signings Liam Davis and Paul Ashton were enough to give the side a win but there preparations were given a massive blow with Richard Medcalf carried off with suspected ankle ligament damage.

Manager Dave Anderson commented: "It was nice to get the first game out of the way. We decided to give all of our triallists a run out and give a majority of the first-team squad a rest.

“With so many new faces it was very difficult to get any kind of fluidity but there was some plus signs from a few players who will add to the nucleus of the squad.

“Meddy's injury is a massive blow but hopefully it will not be too bad, fingers crossed. The squad is big enough to cope with these kind of set-backs. We will now look forward to stepping up our pre-season schedule with Nettleham on Thursday."
