Witham Quietly Confident

Witham embark on a third successive season in the division on Saturday when they travel to play Hullbridge Sports.

Then manager Garry Kimble returns to his former club Burnham Rambers on Tuesday night, for their second game of the campaign.

Chairman Last has made no secret of his desire to see the Spa Road club back in the Ryman League, where he feels it belongs.

Witham were relegated from the Ryman League in 2009. However, Last insisted that there is no pressure on boss Kimble to win promotion, in what is his first season in charge. He said: “We’re feeling quietly confident.

“The club is in a good place at the moment.

“We have some new stands and off the pitch, things are going right.

“Let’s hope they do on the pitch too but there’s no pressure on Garry.

“He’s done well to keep the vast majority of the squad together and he’s also added a few, too.

“We have a very tough start but pre-season has gone very well and we couldn’t have asked for any more than that.

“We just have to keep playing like we did last season.”
