A statement from the club said: “The board of Stockport Sports FC have accepted the resignation of Mr Peter Withe. The club would like to wish Peter and his family all the best for future.

"Peter Withe has not been able to continue in his role and has resigned. Peter relished the opportunity given to him at Stockport, but unfortunately his aspirations and ambitions for the future of the club could not be fully realised.

“Following legal advice, no further comment will be made.”
