Work Underway at Taunton

.....Wordsworth Drive to replace the building which was ravaged by fire last July.

It was eventually pulled down and the new clubhouse, which will include a skittle alley, is being built on the site of the old one and should be in use for the start of the season. Last winter supporters had to contend with outside bar and food facilities but fortunately the weather was often mild and there was a barbeque atmosphere at games, particularly at night matches. "We're aiming to get the building up and running for the start of the season," said the club's chief executive and chairman Kevin Sturmey. "We weren't able to replace the building any quicker because we had to wait until we received the insurance money from the fire. "We've also spent a lot of time enquiring about possible grants and loans." "We decided some time ago that we had shelved plans to sell off the ground and move to a new all-purpose stadium. "We now want to stay here and develop the ground. "One very pleasing aspect of the ground has been the playing surface which is looking so much better."
