Paul Marshall, manager of Toolstation Northern Counties East League Premier Division promotion-chasers Pickering Town, has signed defender Sam Denton from league rivals Harrogate Railway Athletic.

Thirty-year-old Denton, who was originally on the books at Bradford City, only switched to Railway in December.

He has lots of NCEL pedigree as he won the Premier Division in 2013 with Scarborough before captaining Shaw Lane AFC to the same title in 2015 and also had a spell with Handsworth Parramore from September 2015 to December 2016 when he moved to Station View.

He also has Evo-Stik Northern Premier League experience from spells at Farsley Celtic, Ossett Town, Frickley Athletic, North Ferriby United and Guiseley AFC.

Denton will make his Pikes` debut against Maltby Main tomorrow as a replacement for skipper Niall Tilsley, who starts a four-game ban.
