Hanwell Town’s outside chances of making the Southern League Central playoffs now seem over.

The club have been deducted one point from their total after fielding an ineligible player.

Midfielder Alex Atkinson turned out for the club in January against Northwood after his loan from Luton Town came to an end.

Following a hearing, the Southern League confirmed they will be punished.

A statement read: “Following a charge against the Club being proven for fielding an ineligible player, the Club is deducted one point from its total.

“The offence occurred on Monday 2nd January in the Division One Central match at Northwood which was drawn 1-1, when Hanwell Town fielded Alex Atkinson after his loan period from Luton Town had expired on 31st December. The League table will reflect the point deduction.”
