Joint-manager Sean Regan has parted company with Baris Northern Counties East League Premier Division club…
….Thackley by mutual agreement.
Regan leaves with the best wishes of everyone at the Dennyfield having recently been successful in gaining a position at a Premiership club and as a result he cannot give the commitment that is required to continue his work at Thackley.
Regan said: “I have been given a great opportunity to coach at one of the biggest clubs in the world – certainly the biggest in my eyes – on a part-time basis. It is therefore with deep regret that I have to resign from my post at Thackley due to my new commitments, and I wish the club all the best in the coming years, because they are definitely a progressive club.
“Initially, a number of years ago I came to Thackley to gain some coaching experience when I was taking my UEFA `A` licence. Following a season as manager at Liversedge and a spell in a coaching position with Scunthorpe United, I little realised that four years later and after working with four different managers I would have been back at Thackley.
“It has been a fantastic experience that I will never forget. It seems like I have been around the block working at grassroots non-league, and at professional clubs but it is all good experience, and I see this as another new venture.
“I wish to say a big thank you to everyone involved at the club who have supported me throughout my time there – the committee, the volunteers who help to keep the place running and especially the players. I will definitely miss the lads around the club and the banter, but I think they will understand how it is.
“Who knows – one day I may be back in the non-League game, because it does have a special effect on you once you get the bug.”
