…..Thurlow Nunn League Premier Division club Haverhill Rovers football committee has decided to appoint Ali Shulver as an interim caretaker-manager for the remainder of the season.

With the first-team enjoying a fine run of form, it was felt that a mid-season appointment could prove disruptive, and unsettle the current squad.

The committee also noted that on the occasions when Shulver had taken charge this season the players had performed well, thus negating the need for a rushed appointment.

Shulver has worked within the youth system of Haverhill Rovers for a number of years to great success, managing at Eastern Junior Alliance level and producing a number of players who are now playing at professional academies. He is also the joint-manager of the Cambridgeshire county schools under-15 team.

Former boss Pete Betts will continue to work behind the scenes in an advisory role and will still join Shulver and the team occasionally in the Rovers` dressing room and dug-out.

The committee still intend to appoint a new manager for the first-team for the 2013/14 season, and have made contact with all interested parties who applied for the position, informing them of the postponement of the interview process.

Applications for the permanent managers` position will be sought once again in the New Year, with the committee intending to appoint by the end of the current season to enable the new post holder to have a full pre-season to assemble their new squad.
