Saltash United underlined their title credentials in the South West Peninsula League Premier Division on Saturday as they came from behind to beat local rivals Plymouth Parkway by a 3-2 margin at Kimberley Stadium.
The Ashes stay just ahead of the chasing pack in pole position but for Parkway it was a third defeat on the bounce with new manager Lee Hobbs seeing his team`s promotion ambitions seriously damaged.
To make matters worse for Parkway, all their nearest rivals that were in action today produced resounding victories.
Tavistock had a 2-1 win from their tricky-looking trip to Falmouth Town, St Austell made short work of Camelford with a 6-0 win at Poltair Park, Bodmin Town had an 8-2 away romp at lowly Ivybridge Town and Exmouth Town climbed a place to seventh, with games in hand, as they beat Callington Town also by a 6-0 margin.
Only two other sides recorded wins today with Cullompton Rangers climbing two places to ninth after a 3-1 Speeds Meadow win over visiting Godolphin Atlantic, whilst Helston Athletic returned to winning ways with a 3-0 success away at a Newquay side who used up one of their games in hand at the bottom, without reward.
