John Still thinks he may just have found something special after signing Eastbourne Borough’s Elliott Romain.
The striker signed for the Daggers on Tuesday from the Vanarama National League South side after the clubs came to an agreement over a fee, which remains undisclosed.
The fact that Dagenham are paying money for players again suggests things are back on track off the pitch.
Still says he will always go down the lower league market for players and thinks Romain will be a great addition to his side. He has scored 20 goals already this season and is “desperate to keep putting the ball in the net” according to his new boss.
He said: “It’s a route that has done me and this club proud in the past. It’s tried and tested.
“I prefer it to signing the players from higher levels in a lot of ways. When you sign players from lower down it’s almost guaranteed hunger and that is something Elliott has in abundance.”
Daggers go to Barrow on Saturday after beating Forest Green 2-1 last weekend.
“It’s a long old trip, especially after we were at Gateshead the week before last!” joked the experience manager.
“We’ll go up there confident because of last week. It’s a demanding place to go but we won’t shy away from what we’ve got to do up there.”
