Former teenage scoring sensation John Marsden made his debut for Aberystwyth Town on Sunday as a substitute in the….

….4-2 Corbett Sports Welsh Premier League defeat at Neath.

A last-minute signing for Seasiders’ boss Alan Morgan, Marsden scored ninety-one goals during a four-and-a-half season spell as a trainee with Wigan Athletic.

His exploits attracted wide attention and he penned a three-year deal with Glasgow Celtic at the age of 16 in February 2009.

But the SPL outfit sent him out on a season-long loan spell with Hamilton Academicals and, following his release from Parkhead, he moved to Rochdale, where he featured in the youth team.
