Toolstation Northern Counties East League Premier Division club Worksop Town have announced that goalkeeper Jon Kennedy has agreed to become first-team manager and…..

….Craig Denton has agreed to continue as his assistant, in both cases until the end of the season.

This follows last week`s departure of manager Mark Shaw, who has been under club suspension since November.

Kennedy is a vastly experiences goalkeeper who was sold as a youngster to Sunderland by Worksop, creating a transfer fee record.

He is now in his third spell joining from Matlock Town.

His other clubs include Blackpool, Accrington Stanley, Halifax Town, Witton Albion, Droylsden and Lancaster City.

Meanwhile, Worksop have welcomed striker Jonathan Fusco back to the club.

Fusco has re-joined the Tigers from NCEL First Division side Rossington Main.

He was with Sheffield Wednesday as a youngster where he picked up a serious injury.

Whilst at Wednesday he had a spell with Hallam on `work experience` terms and after he was released from Hilsborough he joined Sheffield FC.

He first signed for Worksop from Parkgate earlier in the season before he joined Rossington Main in January.

Kennedy had this to say on his return: “I am delighted to welcome Jonathan back he went to Rossington to get some games under his belt and gain match fitness and now he feels ready to push for a first-team place”.
