Evo-Stik League South Premier club Dorchester Town have signed former Yeovil Town central defender Jayden Corbridge on non-contract terms.

Corbridge, who was with league rivals Weymouth in pre-season, initially joined Dorchester`s reserve side but the now former manager Craig Laird was taken with his displays and offered him a first-team spot.

Laird, who resigned his post yesterday (see separate news item) told Echosport the former Yeovil under-18 defender was “hungry and desperate” to test himself at Southern League level.

He said: “He’s hungry and desperate to play at this level. He plays with enthusiasm. I liked him in training and he’s got an intensity to his game. It’s up to us to try and improve him as a player and he can use us as a stepping stone to try and become better.

“I thought I might start him (against Weymouth) but I went slightly different with more experienced players so it didn’t quite work out.”

Meanwhile, teenage winger Dom Panesar-Dower has also signed a contract to the end of the season.
