Midfielder Charlie Duke’s loan atEvo-Stik Northern Premier League Premier Division side Ashton United has been extended by Vanarama National League club Torquay United until the end of the season.

Duke, 19, joined Ashton in early March with the aim of developing his game with competitive football.

Torquay manager Kevin Nicholson said: “Dukey has been impressing in his games up at Ashton, and the manager there, Jody Banim, who some fans might remember, wanted to keep him until the end of the season.

“I think that it’s great for his development to be getting regular minutes, and it will improve him way more than being a squad player down here.

“I know all I need to know about Dukey, and the potential he has going forward, so we will discuss his future when he gets back when we have a clearer picture of things here. For now, I wish him well and he needs to soak up every minute of experience he can.

“He’s a good lad with a bright future if he keeps at it”.
