Sammy Moore has revealed he has no intention of hanging up his boots and time soon.
The Leatherhead manager will combine the rolls of taking charge of the team – and taking charge of the Tanners midfield.
He says he can’t wait to get the Bostik League season off and underway tomorrow afternoon when his team play host to Lowestoft Town.
At just 29, the ex-Wimbledon, Dover, and Ipswich Town player knows there is much left still in the tank.
“Playing wise, I’ve had a good career and I intend to carry on playing for Leatherhead,” Moore told GetSurrey.
“I’ve always had a burning desire to be player-manager and the time was right so I wanted to give it a go. Hopefully my experience of playing at the top level should stand me in good stead.
“Age is just a number. I’m still going to carry on playing but I want to have an effect on the other side of it. I’ve played under some good managers that I’ve learnt from and I’ve got good contacts in the Football League.
“I feel like I’ve got a lot to bring to Leatherhead and I can’t wait to get started. The hard work starts now.”
