Uhlsport Hellenic League Division One West club Shrivenham have announced the re-signings of Daniel Axford, Rob Lincoln, Rob Hendry and Fraser Little for a further season and signed forward Tyler Sheppard following an impressive trial period at Barrington Park.

Midfielder Axford and forward Lincoln are both returning to the Shrivenham squad for the 2017/18 campaign.

The talented players made fifteen and twenty-two appearances respectively last season with Axford scoring one goal and Lincoln netting 4 times.

“We’re delighted to announce these two signings and everyone at Barrington Park will be aware of their potential,” assistant-manager Mark Stevens said. “They’re both young hard-working lads with huge desire and willingness to learn and they fit exactly in to the profile of the players that we enjoy working with.”

Defender Hendry also returns to the club for his second successive season, having originally joined from New College Swindon.

Son of reserve team manager Steve Hendry, the strong, athletic youngster has previously played his junior football with Swindon Supermarine as well as the Swindon Town and last term he made twenty-two appearances, scoring one goal.

The signing significantly bolsters McNally’s defensive options and with less than a week to go before the season opener against Clanfield 85, his squad has really begun to take shape.

McNally showed his excitement about Hendry’s return, saying: “I’m delighted that Rob will be with us once again and the experience he gained last season will stand him in good stead for what is in store this time round.”

Promising defender Fraser Little will also be returning to the club.

The 18-year-old – who will be making his third straight season with the club – won both the managers` and players` player of the season awards in his first year at the club and speaking about having the six-foot-plus centre-back returning for another term, McNally said: “Every squad needs its young, talented players and Fraser is one of those players.

“As far as the division goes, he’s been there and done it now. He keeps himself fit and I’m sure he’ll continue to be a great asset to the club this season.”

Sheppard signs following impressing on trial this pre-season.

The former New College, Cirencester Town and Royal Wootton Bassett playmaker has appeared in most of Shrivenham`s pre-season programme and has now signed for the 2017/18 season.

“I think he’s fitted in quite nicely with the team,” McNally said after the player completed his signing on forms. “We play some good football here and that’s what suits him best so it feels like a good fit.”

Sheppard is an experienced player who has a great engine and will certainly work his socks off for the team.
