New-Look Kingfishers Start With A Win

Uhlsport Hellenic League Premier Division club Thatcham Town have added a number of new signings to their ranks.

The Berkshire outfit will be looking for a promotion push after finishing fourth last season.

The new arrivals include midfielder Joe Blount, who joins from league rivals Flackwell Heath, having previously been with Evo-Stik League South Premier outfit Slough Town.

Central midfielder Harrison Bayley arrives from another league rival, Binfield.

The versatile 26-year-old, who can play in midfield and defence, joined the Moles last year from another Hellenic Premier side, Highmoor-Ibis, where he spent the previous few seasons, many as captain.

Another midfielder, Curtis Angell, re-joins Thatcham for a second time, having been with the likes of Sydenhams Football League (Wessex) sides Amesbury Town and Andover, North Berks League outfit Burghclere, Evo-Stik South West side AFC Totton and Hellenic Leaguers Abingdon United.

Moving from league rivals Highmoor-Ibis are former Marlow and Bishops Cleeve forward Lamin Sankoh and 23-year-old ex-Sheffield Wednesday, Gillingham, Bromley, Hayes & Yeading United, and Chippenham Town midfielder Harry Grant.

Grant made a couple of League appearances for Wednesday after beginning as a youngster with Reading and Swindon Town, and five for the Gills.

He also spent season`s loans with Maidenhead United and Farnborough.

Dylan Knight is a powerful young striker who joins from Evo-Stik South West side AFC Totton.

He signed for the Stags signed in the summer of 2015 from AFC Fawley.

Arriving from AFC Totton`s new league rivals Kidlington is 25-year-old defender Henry Owen.

Owen started out at Oxford United and also had spells with Banbury United and Thame United.

And winger Ekow Elliott, who scored the winner in Tuesday`s opening league win against Abingdon United, joined from Wessex Leaguers Blackfield & Langley.

Elliott was a star of the Blackfield side that won the Wessex title before having a spell with Poole Town.
